MEET DIANNE
New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community
Mayor Pro Tem Dianne Williams-Cox has spent more than four decades as a driving force for progress in Tallahassee. A dedicated public servant and a fearless advocate, she has devoted her life to amplifying the voices of the underserved, championing community-driven solutions, and ensuring that governance remains accessible to all.
A relentless advocate for women’s rights, Williams-Cox has fought for equal pay and workplace protections, not just in policy discussions but through action. She has consistently worked to bring city and county governance directly to the people, ensuring that neighborhood communities have a voice in shaping their future.
Her commitment to education runs deep. Recognizing the disparities in Southside Tallahassee, she took action—actively engaging in school board meetings and founding the Southside United Citizens Action Alliance, a movement that empowers residents to tackle local challenges and drive meaningful change.
Elected to the Tallahassee City Commission in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, she has been a force for equity, accountability, and progress. Her leadership has not gone unnoticed—honored as Capital Outlook’s 2018 "Community Advocate of the Year" and later recognized as the publication’s 2023 "Person of the Year," Williams-Cox continues to earn the trust and respect of the community she serves.
Beyond politics, her influence extends into education, business, and community empowerment. She has served on School Advisory Councils and Parent Teacher Associations and held leadership roles with the Capital Area Community Action Agency, the Bethel Empowerment Foundation, and the Capital City Chamber of Commerce. A life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she embodies a lifelong commitment to service.
At the heart of it all, she is a devoted wife to Tommy Cox, a proud mother of three sons, and a loving grandmother of seven. Family is her foundation, and her leadership reflects the same deep sense of connection, resilience, and dedication.
Now serving as Mayor Pro Tem of Tallahassee, Williams-Cox remains steadfast in her mission—to create a more inclusive, equitable, and thriving city. Her legacy is one of action, impact, and unwavering service to the people of Tallahassee.
